The Salvation Army in Kankakee feeds the hungry with daily, nutritionally balanced meals for anyone. The Free Lunch Program is available to all from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. In the last year, the Army provided over 59,000 meals.

Bread and produce distribution also offered, when available.





We endeavor to strengthen and unify the family unit, whether it is a traditional two-parent family, a blended family, or a household led by a single adult. Emphasis is placed on the importance of the family here at the Kankakee Salvation Army.

Assistance includes: Food Pantry, Clothing Vouchers, Case Management & NICOR Heating Assistance

Referrals and Assistance to obtain:

Medical Care, GED, Bus Transportation Tokens, Social Security for disabled homeless, Employment, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Support Group



Provides emergency assistance to families and their children.

A goal based program for families in crisis, providing temporary, short-term housing

Staffed 24 hours daily, year round, with a case worker, counseling and referrals

Tutoring for school aged children
